The big news this month is 31463 has been on the load bank.
In the weeks leading up to this various checks, cleaning and preparation work were made on various systems on the loco to make sure everything would go smoothly.
On 28th September the load bank was brought in and connected to the loco and a safety cordon was erected. 31463 underwent a series of tests at quarter, half, three-quarters and full power throughout the day. We are pleased to say 31463 passed all its tests, some minor issues have been identified and these will be attended to over the coming weeks. We were able to work out the loco is producing 1430 horsepower (the missing 40 horsepower driving the cooling fan and other things).
